A 7 kilometre time trial for hand bikers took place in Playa Blanca over the weekend. The challenge was enhanced by weather conditions with exceptional winds and a downpour of rain on Friday afternoon. This is the 10th anniversary for this event which incorporates athletes from 10 different countries favoring Lanzarote for training. The maximum speeds of the course were in the centre of Playa Blanca between the church and Anchor roundabout which finishes with a very risky curve to the road. The trophies at the end of the race were presented by Seine Snippe who is the president of the (EHF) European Handling Federation. A total of 8000 Euros was distributed amongst the winners as prize money during the award ceremony. More information regarding handbike events can be found by clicking here
