A case that started over 12 years ago and a ruling that issued a year ago has come to a head. Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca is under scrutiny with claims that the ports license is illegal claiming that the owners Juan Francisco Rosa, Rafael Lasso and Francisco Armas bribed the former mayor, José Francisco Reyes, to grant them the permit.
The sentence was handed down in April 2017 and was not appealed by any of the accused, since the nine people who were convicted had confessed the facts and reached an agreement in accordance with the Prosecutor’s Office. Therefore, the ruling became firm and the execution phase has already begun, both to comply with the prison sentences and to make official the cancellation of all licenses granted by Reyes in exchange for bribes.
