The volume of business produced by tourist activity in Lanzarote during the first quarter of the year has increased by 9.3% to reach 734 million euros, This increase in revenues in the first three months of the year has been even higher than the average recorded in the Canary Islands, which has risen by 7.2% over 2016.

The average spend per tourist and day visited the island was 135.29 euros which is  6.9% more than last year. According to the survey, the island is 8.8 euros below the average of the total tourist expenditure that occurred in the Canary Islands during the first quarter of 2017.

The Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, has commented on the  “good news” and said that indicates a fulfilling goal of attracting higher quality tourism that encourages more spending on the island.
