Everyone likes to be asked when eating out and after asking for the bill, if they would like a ‘chupito’, a little drink on the compliments of the restaurant. More than often here in the Canaries, you are given some honey rum (Ronmiel). Its seems to go down well with most people and I have been asked on more than one occasion to send bottles to friends as it is difficult to find in other parts of th world. Unfortunately, the cost to send a bottle is expensive, so if you do find you like it, take a bottle back with you when you leave the island.
Ronmiel is typical of the Canary Islands but traditionally from Colombia and gets its name as it is 25% honey and 20 to 30% alcohol
